Afterthought

I just read this story on the Times website about an elderly couple that were found dead following a visit from social services as they feared that they would be separated due to differing care needs.

There isn’t really much that can be said, apart from feeling a genuine sadness that this has happened.

I have been involved in placing couples in care with different needs and this kind of thing makes the importance of a communal home being a true home a priority.

Every conversation and visit is a life and it just expresses even more vividly (and tragically) how people within the system can provide creative thinking that force services to be more needs-led.
